JV Game Summary: Lamar

Junior Varsity Routs Lamar, 13-1
The Woodlands JV ran their record to 6-2 with their most dominate performance of the season, beating Lamar 13-1. The Woodlands was lead by junior midfield Will Sexton (3 goals), freshman attack Spencer Willey (2 goals, 1 assist), and freshman attack James Kelley (1 goal, 2 assists). In all, eight different players scored for The Woodlands. The defense, behind goalies sophomore Chris Howell and freshman Derek Koett, turned in their second consecutive performance, limiting Lamar to a single goal.
The scoring started early for the Woodlands, with Kelley notching his goal at 9:06 in the first. Freshman midfielder Mitchell Ruffer hit the back of the net at 6:16. Willey followed up just over a minute later with his first goal of the night on an assist from sophomore Zack Stewart, giving The Woodlands a 3-0 lead at the break. The offensive onslaught slowed in the second quarter, with Sexton getting his first goal of the night off a well played rebound from sophomore midfield Luke Anderson's shot at 5:40. Connor Milton, freshman attack, on a feed from Kelley found the back of the net with 34 seconds left, giving The Woodlands a 5-0 lead at the half. The second half didn't go any better for Lamar, as Willey set the tone for the half by intercepting a clearing pass from Lamar's goalie and slid it by for his second goal of the night at 9:20 in the third. At 5:43 Stewart extended the lead by getting his goal for the night. Freshman midfield Chase Kurtin followed up less than a minute later for own goal on a feed from Willey. Milton scored again at 2:45 on Kelley's second assist of the game, giving The Woodlands a 9-0 lead at the end of the third quarter. Sexton struck quickly at 8:44 in the fourth with an assist from Stewart. Tyler Alexander, sophomore midfield, scored at 7:20 to push the lead to 11-0. At 5:47, Sexton notched his third goal of the game when he cleared the pack at midfield for a fast break. The Woodlands added their last goal of the night at less than 15 seconds later, extending the lead to 13-0. Lamar finally cut through the stifling defense to slip one past Koett at 5:20, ending the game at 13-1.
